Research Assistant I/II in the Emergency Medicine Unit of the LKS Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 511327) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

The Emergency Medicine Unit collaborates with emergency departments that are chronically in crisis. Every year, there are more than 2 million patient visits involving multiple types of conditions. Some of them are critically ill demanding timely recognition and interventions. Our expertise would provide scientific evidence to meet the ever-increasing challenges. We are seeking ambitious talents to join the league to make a change.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or related disciplines. They should have a quantitative mind and excellent communication skills with colleagues and patients. Knowledge of medical statistics and competence in statistical software is essential. Experience in big data analysis would be an advantage. Those who plan to pursue research postgraduate studies are welcome to apply. Applicants with less experience may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant II.

The appointee will collect data from electronic clinical databases, such as Clinical Data Analysis and Reporting System (CDARS) and electronic patient records (ePR) for patients with post-chemotherapy fever, and emergency medicine-acute kidney injury (ED-AKI). He/She will also participate in a pilot study for incoming patients of suspected neutropenic fever after chemotherapy. Enquiries about the duties of the post should be sent to Dr. Patrick Leung at patrick.leung@hku.hk.

The University only accepts online application for the above post. Applicants should apply online and upload an up-to-date C.V.  Review of applications will start from January 6, 2022 and continue until January 31, 2022, or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.
