This research assistant position will consist of at least 5 hours per week; paid at a $15/per hour rate. The research assistant will support the "Linguistic Diversity and Institutional Language Policies in Erie" research project being conducted by Prof. Ian Michalski. The project takes a sociological and linguistic approach to understanding linguistic diversity in communities. Research assistant tasks will include: updated maintaining an image database, general literature review, building a bibliographic database, aiding in the preparation of survey materials, transcription of audio-recorded interviews, etc. Necessary skills and qualifications include a familiarity and general competency using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, familiarity with PSU Library online catalog and databases, an interest in public policy, Non-Profit institutions, languages, community outreach, etc. The position will offer substantial flexibility regarding schedules and work location as long progress is made toward accomplishing established weekly tasks.
