Research Assistant of Medicine 

Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant in the group of Professor Rita Horvath in the John van Geest Centre for Brain Repair.

The Department of Clinical Neurosciences is one of the largest Departments in the School of Clinical Medicine and is embedded in several sites on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The John Van Geest Building (VGB), located on the Forvie Site, hosts approximately 70 academic and associated research and administrative staff in a combination of laboratories, offices & clinic space.

The postholder will have specific responsibilities to support ongoing research into mitochondrial disorders within the Horvath group and will contribute also to wider support and organisational roles as required. The role will focus on investigating pathomechanisms in mitochondrial disorders and inherited neuropathies (such as Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease). Specific tasks include cell culture of primary human cells and iPSC derived neurons and organoids, PCR, Western blots and microscopy as well as providing general support to the laboratory such as monitoring consumables stocks, placing and receiving orders, training and equipment maintenance.
