About the Position

Do you want to contribute to better health for all?

This is a golden opportunity for someone interested in the relationship between health, new technology, and work, and curious about what it is like to work in a successful, international research environment.

Our research group at the Unit of Occupational Medicine, within the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM), was awarded KI’s Work Environment and Health Award in 2021. We offer a dynamic, supportive, and open research climate where you are encouraged to think freely and explore your own ideas.

Your Mission

New technologies and shifting consumption and production patterns are transforming working life, which in turn impacts the health, safety, and wellbeing of workers.

In this role, you will contribute to two exciting research projects:

  • ALGOSH: Algorithmic management at work: challenges, opportunities, and strategies for occupational safety, health, and wellbeing.

  • MAIJobCare: Managing job quality and labour shortages with AI/AM in long-term care (newly launched European research initiative).

Your main tasks include:

  • Supporting research activities using quantitative and qualitative methods.

  • Helping ensure smooth and efficient project operations.

  • Collaborating closely with international research teams from Europe, Canada, the US, and Australia.

  • Engaging with other ongoing projects in the research group, particularly those focusing on algorithmic management and the gig economy.

This position provides opportunities to learn from leading experts and contribute your own knowledge and ideas.

Your Profile

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English, spoken and written.

  • Strong ability to understand and produce scientific texts.

  • Solid project management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • A Master’s degree in public health, occupational health, political science, economics, labour market studies, work science, labour law, or other relevant disciplines.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • A one-year Master’s degree is required, fulfilled no later than the employment decision.

  • Previous experience as a research assistant is a merit.

  • Recent graduates (within the past three years) are preferred; older degrees may be accepted under special circumstances.

What We Offer

  • A creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise.

  • Karolinska Institutet, one of the world’s leading medical universities, offering extensive medical research and education.

  • Access to modern wellness facilities with trained staff on site.

  • Benefits through the collective agreement of the state university.

This is a 12-month full-time fixed-term position.

Application

  • Deadline: 15 October 2025

  • Applications must be submitted via the Varbi recruitment system.

  • Apply with a CV only (no personal letter required). You will answer questions in the application form about why you are applying for the job.
