Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant I in the Division of Neurology of the Department of Medicine and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Ref.: 503110) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare or Social Sciences disciplines and at least 3 years’ work experience, or with a Master’s degree and at least 1 year’s post-qualification work experience.  They should have a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese; good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; and IT proficiency.  They should be responsible, ethical, self-motivated, detail-minded, and able to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team.  Experience in patient care, rehabilitation, clinical research, coordination of clinical trials and use of digital health technologies in healthcare settings would be advantageous.  Those with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant I.

The appointee will predominantly be working on an Innovative Technology Fund project related to the development of a novel platform that incorporates artificial intelligence and telemedicine to facilitate stroke rehabilitation in the community setting.  He/She will work with a multidisciplinary team (including medical engineers, stroke neurologists, rehabilitation specialists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and social workers) from different sectors (academia, Hospital Authority and non-government organizations) to develop this platform.  He/She will write up study protocols; liaise with ethics and regulatory bodies, and different stakeholders involved in the project; run pilot studies and clinical trials related to the platform in different settings (inpatient and day rehabilitation centres within the hospital environment and community rehabilitation centres); collect data through administration of questionnaires; analyze and write up the results; and assist in dissemination and promotion of the platform.  Training opportunities related to the use of artificial intelligence in the healthcare setting will be provided where necessary.
