Work­ing field:

Col­lab­or­a­tion in the fun­ded research pro­ject CRTX.
CRTX is a joint pro­ject of the Ber­lin SME cir­cu­lar.fash­ion, the TU Ber­lin and the FU Ber­lin. The aim of the pro­ject is to cre­ate the basis for fibre-to-fibre recyc­ling by means of AI and spec­tro­scopy-based auto­mated detec­tion of raw mater­i­als and pol­lut­ants. By com­bin­ing clas­sical UV-VIS-NIR spec­tro­scopy and Raman spec­tro­scopy a reli­able optical detec­tion method for the iden­ti­fic­a­tion of the mater­ial com­pos­i­tion and con­tam­in­a­tion of old tex­tiles shall be developed.

Require­ments:

  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) and doc­tor­ate in phys­ics, poly­mer sci­ences, chem­istry or a com­par­able dis­cip­line
  • At least three years of sci­entific or pro­fes­sional work in a full-time employ­ment rela­tion­ship after gradu­ation
  • Long-term exper­i­ence in poly­mer and molecu­lar phys­ics. In-depth know­ledge of spec­tro­scopic meth­ods, espe­cially Raman spec­tro­scopy and/or ultra­fast spec­tro­scopy, and their applic­a­tion to poly­mers and dyes
  • Fur­ther pre­requis­ites are know­ledge of chem­o­met­ric ana­lysis strategies for auto­mated data eval­u­ation as well as know­ledge of at least one com­mon pro­gram­ming lan­guage (e.g. Python, C/C++) for lab con­trol
  • Strong abil­ity to work inde­pend­ently; high degree of cre­ativ­ity as well as prob­lem ori­ented learn­ing, abil­ity to abstract mod­el­ling; exper­i­ence with team­work in inter­dis­cip­lin­ary pro­jects
  • Exper­i­ence in acquir­ing fund­ing; exper­i­ence in pub­lish­ing research res­ults and present­ing them at con­fer­ences
  • Excel­lent writ­ten and spoken Eng­lish skills; good Ger­man lan­guage skills are required; will­ing­ness to expand Ger­man lan­guage skills
Desir­able qual­i­fic­a­tions are:
Tech­nical know­ledge of tex­tiles and their recyc­ling, exper­i­ence with machine learn­ing meth­ods, exper­i­ence with meth­ods of pol­lut­ant ana­lysis, exper­i­ence in com­puter-aided design and sim­u­la­tion of optics and mech­an­ics (CAD, FEA, optical design). Fur­ther desir­able qual­i­fic­a­tions are tech­nical know­ledge of tex­tiles and their recyc­ling, exper­i­ence with machine learn­ing meth­ods, exper­i­ence with meth­ods of pol­lut­ant ana­lysis, exper­i­ence in com­puter-aided design and sim­u­la­tion of optics and mech­an­ics (CAD, FEA, Optical Design).
