A part-time (0.5FTE) Research Assistant position is available in the WTKLAB. The WTKLAB uses multidisciplinary approaches to understand normal epithelial cell fate decisions and how that impacts early steps of tumour initiation (Bach et al 2017, Lazarus et 2018, Hadi et al 2020 and Bach and Pensa et al 2021). The lab is based at Department of Pharmacology and the Wellcome-MRC Stem Cell Institute. The post-holder will be responsible for the general management of the lab across both sites including but not restricted to the organisation and storage of lab resources (lab stocks, cell lines, vectors, etc.), ordering, genotyping and maintenance of mouse colonies. In addition, the post-holder is expected to assist other members of the lab on an Ad-hoc basis with some of their experiments.

The ideal candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences and should have demonstrable experience working in biomedical research. It's essential that the candidate has experience in tissue culture and molecular biology, and it would be ideal if they have worked with mouse models. It's essential that the candidate is organised, responsible, a team-player and can communicate effectively and clearly both orally and in writing.

The position is part-time, 2.5 days/week, for 3 years with an option of extending for a further 3 years and is funded by CRUK. There is flexibility in how the 2.5 days are distributed across the week subject to discussion and agreement with the line manager. The position is available from 15th April 2021 but there is flexibility in the start date for the right candidate.

The salary range for Research Assistant is £26,715 - £30,942 pro rata.
