Full-time/Part-time Research Assistant II in the Department of Professional Legal Education (Ref.: 503540) (to commence as soon as possible for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal) 

Applicants should possess an undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree in social science (preferably statistics/psychology/economics) and preferably a current Ph.D. student in law/social science studying in Hong Kong. They should be fluent in English and Cantonese (and preferably Mandarin), and conversant with both traditional and simplified Chinese characters.  They should have previous experience in conducting empirical research in law or social science and/or socio-legal researches, and prior experience in conducting interviews and questionnaire surveys would be advantageous.

The appointee will work for an international team of researchers led by Dr. Richard Wu of the Department of Professional Legal Education on two socio-legal interdisciplinary research projects (i) “An Empirical and Comparative Study of Law Students’ Perceptions of Their Values in Four Fastest-Growing Asian Countries: China, India, Thailand and Philippines” and (ii) “An Empirical and Comparative Study of Law Students’ Perceptions of Their Values in Four Emerging and Transitional Economies: China, Russia, South Africa and Kazakhstan”.  He/She will help to plan and/or assist in the interviews, assist in conducting the questionnaire surveys in overseas countries, coding of the questionnaires and interview scripts, conducting statistical analysis like ANOVA and regression analysis, testing models and provide technical support to the research team in the analysis of interviews and other quantitative and qualitative data.
