Position Summary
The Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks to hire a full-time Research Instructor (fixed term) faculty member. The successful applicant will act as program manager and senior study coordinator for the Child and Adolescent Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program (CHAAMP), a translational research program that seeks to advance understanding, prevention, and treatment of mental health problems among pediatric populations.

The successful applicant will provide overall supervision and management of observational research studies and clinical trials conducted as part of CHAAMP. Responsibilities will span a broad range of duties related to planning, organizing, and executing research and other CHAAMP-related initiatives. This will include maintaining accurate research protocols and study manuals; coordinating participant recruitment and enrollment activities; engaging in primary quantitative and qualitative data collection, coding, and management; leading project meetings; developing project reports; and supervising trainees and students. 

Individuals will be asked to develop processes to ensure research studies are conducted efficiently and with the highest levels of research integrity. This position will oversee regulatory processes (e.g., IRB applications, ClinicalTrials.gov), perform data analyses, and be involved in manuscript writing and grant submissions. The program of research conducted as part of CHAAMP is rooted in team science, and will involve partnerships within and outside the UNC Department of Psychiatry and with researchers at other academic institutions. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
The applicant must hold a master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field from an accredited school.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Competitive applicants will have a history of research project management (including clinical trial studies), data collection experience, excellent organizational skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience working with an interdisciplinary team preferred. Knowledge of statistical packages (e.g., R, STATA, SAS, SPSS) is a plus.
