About This Opportunity 

 

We are currently seeking two diligent and experienced Senior Research Assistants/Technicians to join our prestigious School of Psychology to provide technical, research and administrative support for the UQ Lives Lived Well Research Group.

 

As the Senior Research Assistant/Technician, you will work with project leaders to implement project plans and support high quality research outcomes at all stages of the research life-cycle.

 

Key responsibilities will include but are limited to: 

  • Coordinates the efforts of team members, consultants and key stakeholders (including school staff and non-government organisations (NGOs)) to ensure tasks and projects are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Assists in the design of research activities, under supervision of senior staff.

  • Applies and/or instructs others on the application of advanced, specialist or technical research skills or processes, including participant recruitment, assessment and follow-up, data entry and management according to the relevant research protocol.

  • Assists in the conduct of major or complex research trials, tasks or programs, including online survey design, data analyses, publication preparation and write-ups.

  • Contributes to the safe and efficient operation of research equipment, infrastructure, methodologies and protocols.

  • Assists with drafting research documentation, including Human Research Ethics Committee applications and grant funding applications.

  • Assists with preparing reports, graphs, figures and presentations on research outcomes at different stages of the research cycle.

 

These are full-time, fixed-term positions for 12 months commencing ASAP.

 

At HEW level 5, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $74,378 - $82,842, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $87,022 - $96,925 annually. 

 

About You  

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in psychology, behavioural science, or a related discipline.

  • Excellent practical research skills and experience in relevant research methodology or techniques required for the body of research with young people, substance use, mental ill-health, mental wellbeing and eHealth.

  • Knowledge of and competence in statistical analyses, data management and analyses packages (e.g. SPSS), and the ability to learn new procedures.

  • High levels of computer proficiency with experience using MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and EndNote.

  • Dedication to subject confidentiality and research ethics, particularly with respect to identified subject data of a sensitive nature.

  • Well-organised, methodical and self-motivated including the ability to prioritise a range of tasks, problem solve independently, show a high attention to detail and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently on routine procedures and also collaboratively with colleagues.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • An honours degree in psychology, behavioural science or related discipline and/or previous experience in a similar role would be considered advantageous.

 

In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:

  • Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment. 

  • Mandatory Immunisations: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

  • Working with Children (Blue Card): It is a requirement of this position that the incumbent holds and maintains a current Working with Children (Blue Card) or has the ability to obtain a Blue Card prior to commencement.
