Position Summary
Applications are invited for the role of Research Assistant within the School of Public Health.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and organised Research Assistant with strong communication skills to join the School of Public Health in UCC. You will be responsible for assisting with knowledge translation activities to support the HIA-IM project under the direction of Dr Monica O’Mullane.
About the project
In the HIA-IM project, we are developing a Health Impact Assessment (HIA) implementation model, based on the conduct of two HIAs in the project, namely a HIA on the Cork City Development Plan (2022-2028) and on the Climate Action Plan (2024). We are drawing on the lived experience of the Steering Groups, brought together for the two HIAs, in creating the implementation model. The Steering Groups include representatives within statutory, community, voluntary, and academic organisations. We are undertaking a number of activities to increase the translation of findings gained by the HIA-IM project into policy and practice. This work is funded by a Health Research Board Knowledge Translation Award.
The Role
The Research Assistant will be responsible for assisting and/or coordinating with the organising of a knowledge exchange event, including a world café, targeting health professionals, officials working in local authorities and government ministerial departments, community and voluntary organisations, and researchers.
The Research Assistant be responsible for assisting and/or coordinating:
the development of an informational video on HIA;
a Frequently Asked Questions’ infographic about HIA;
the drafting of a toolkit that will be created by the HIA-IM research team with input by the World Café attendees;
organising a policy briefing seminar at the Department of Health.

Post Duration: 9 Months, Whole-Time Post
Salary: €32,962 - €42,943 per annum, IUA Salary Scale
