The recently star­ted inter­na­tional Research Train­ing Group 2544 (Graduier­ten­kolleg) on
"Stochastic Ana­lysis in Inter­ac­tion" is a col­lab­or­at­ive ven­ture of TU Ber­lin, HU Ber­lin, FU Ber­lin and WIAS in col­lab­or­a­tion with the Uni­versity of Oxford, UK, aim­ing at research train­ing in the vibrant area of Stochastic Ana­lysis.

Work­ing field:

Our PhD pro­jects in sto­chastic ana­lysis span from fun­da­men­tal math­em­at­ical ques­tions to app­lic­a­tions in Bio­logy, Data Sci­ence and Stat­ist­ics, Fin­ance, and Phys­ics. Jointly super­vised by lead­ing experts from Ber­lin and Oxford, the Ber­lin IRTG stu­dents will form a team with a sim­il­arly large num­ber of stu­dents on the Oxford side, sup­por­ted, e.g., by the Centre for Doc­toral Train­ing "Math­em­at­ics of Ran­dom Sys­tems".

Require­ments:

  • suc­cess­fully com­ple­ted uni­ver­sity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in Math­em­at­ics or clo­sely rela­ted dis­cip­lines
  • strong know­ledge of sto­chastic ana­lysis
  • good com­mand of Eng­lish or Ger­man, tog­e­ther with good aca­demic writ­ing and pre­sent­a­tion skills requi­red; the will­ing­ness to learn eit­her Eng­lish or Ger­man is expec­ted
  • eager­ness to engage in exchange with Oxford part­ners, also dur­ing a six mon­ths rese­arch visit in Oxford
