Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor (RAP)/Post-doctoral Fellow (PDF) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref.: 517029), to commence as soon as possible and no later than December 31, 2022, on a three-year fixed-term basis for RAP, or on a three-year temporary basis for PDF, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Robotics, Mechatronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.  They should have experience or exposure in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment with strong communication and problem-solving skills. Prior R&D experience in medical robotics would be advantageous. 

The appointee will join Dr. Ka-Wai Kwok’s research group, and participate in collaborative multidisciplinary research including but not limited to, soft robotic system for MRI-guided transoral laser microsurgery. He/She will also work on a large-scale collaborative research project with world renowned institutes for medical robot system development. The appointee will supervise junior research staff and students, and teach Mechanical Engineering courses. He/She will also have opportunities to explore practical knowledge in cutting-edge image-guided robotics, and advanced therapeutics/surgical treatment. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. For RAP, the appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
