Research Assistant Professor of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Neurodegenerative Disorders

Department of Neuroscience is seeking candidates for a full-time position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure track). The candidate must have an established record of independent and collaborative research in the field of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and related Neurodegenerative disorders, with a sustained record of peer-reviewed publications related to models of Alzheimer’s disease and studies of proteinopathies in Alzheimer’s disease. Applicants must have expertise in the application of molecular biology (including the cloning of AD-related gene of interest), cell biology (including CRISPR/Cas9 manipulations), recombinant protein productions, biochemical techniques (including assays involving tau biology structure and function), microscopy (including confocal and calcium imaging), and mass spectrometry. Other expertise includes generation of primary neuron and glial cultures. Applicants with experience working with mediators of the unfolded protein response are strongly preferred. The applicant should be proficient in the organization, statistical analysis, and presentation of data. The successful applicant will be expected to lead experimental design and develop a collaborative but self-directed independent research program. Other duties include development of collaborative grant proposals and scientific manuscripts. Participating in the Department of Neuroscience educational programs will include mentoring graduate students and undergraduate researchers.


Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. and/or M.D. in neuroscience and/or related field
