Imperial College Business School's new Centre for Responsible Leadership, sponsored by Citi, seeks to help businesses and organisations identify practices that will improve their approach to leadership and boost overall performance, addressing the need for companies and leaders to behave ethically, creating social purpose that goes beyond profit.

Duties and responsibilities

We are recruiting two Post-Doctoral Fellows to help build new knowledge on leadership. You will identify new insights, focusing on leadership behaviours and actions and their implementation across organisations. Focusing on one of the following projects:

• Ethics and Leadership - the experience and resolution of moral distress
• Future of Work and Leadership - robotics, artificial intelligence, and data science

There will also be opportunities to work on new projects as the Centre evolves.

Essential requirements

• PhD in a social science discipline, e.g. organisational behaviour, sociology, psychology  (for Ethics and Leadership) or PhD  in area of economics, data science, management, business analytics, innovation (for Future of Work and Leadership)

• Broad knowledge of leadership, management, organisations and strategy, innovation, the nature of work and new technology, organisational change, equality, diversity, inclusiveness and leadership

• Expertise in quantitative research (Future of Work and Leadership)

• Expertise in qualitative research (Ethics and Leadership)

• Ability to develop and apply new concepts, formulate research questions and develop successful research proposals

• Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to deal with a wide range of people

• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to write clearly and succinctly for publication

• Willingness to be based within the United Kingdom to conduct research and attend events

Further information

Posts are for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

Depending on level of skills and experience appointment will be made on either the Research Associate or Research Fellow scale.

Salary scale for Research Associate £40,215 - £47,579 per annum

Salary scale for Research Fellow £45,615 - £53,988 per annum

Please note, however, candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £35,477 - £38,566 per annum.  Progression to Research Associate will be made on the award of the PhD.
