at the earliest possible date. We are offering a temporary full-time position for three years. Currently, the regular working time for full-time employment is 39 hours and 50 minutes per week. All posts can, as a rule, be assigned as part-time positions if there are no compelling work-related reasons against doing so.

The appointment is funded by the DFG grant “Effective theories for metric gradient flows in solid mechanics” and will focus on the analysis of nonlinear evolution equations featuring elastic energies and viscous dissipations. The prospective candidate is expected to participate in the research activities in the Calculus of Variations group at Applied Mathematics Münster (headed by Manuel Friedrich). Applicants must have, or be close to obtaining, a doctorate in Mathematical Sciences. A strong background in applied analysis is required, e.g. in the calculus of variations, partial differential equations, or mathematical continuum mechanics.

The University of Münster is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the proportion of women academics. Consequently, we actively encourage applications by women. Female candidates with equivalent qualifications and academic achievements will be preferentially considered within the framework of the legal possibilities. The University of Münster is committed to employing more staff with disabilities. Candidates with recognised severe disabilities who have equivalent qualifications are given preference in hiring decisions.

We request that candidates email their application, including a detailed CV, as a single PDF file to seknum@uni-muenster.de, along with the names and contact details of two references (no letters required). The deadline for applications is 15 March 2021, but the position will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is found. Therefore, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible
