Research Associate in Autism Research

We are looking to appoint a research associate for one year to work on a project, which will involve writing policy briefs on a number of urgent issues affecting autistic individuals. The project will involve working with autistic individuals to ensure the policy briefs address issues that are a priority to them.

We are seeking a research associate who has a relevant background in research related to areas of vulnerability in autistic individuals, to write policy briefs based on their own research and research conducted at the Autism Research Centre. This may include issues such as: young autistic individuals who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET), autistic individuals in the criminal justice system, and access to mental and physical healthcare. The primary aim is to ensure scientific research findings are translated into an accessible format to have an impact on policy makers and other relevant professionals (GPs, social workers, teachers, lawyers, etc.) to inform practice, guidance, and the law.

The post holder will work with the Principal Investigator (Professor Simon Baron-Cohen), and other members of the Autism Research Centre. Ability to interact and communicate effectively is essential. Applicants should have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in a relevant topic of autism research that has policy relevance. Previous experience working with autistic individuals in the context of focus groups would be an advantage.
