The research of the Wedge lab is focused on Cancer Evolution and Heterogeneity. We analyse genomic and other data to characterise clonal and subclonal populations of cells within tumours. We have pioneered the development of computational methods to decompose DNA sequencing data and thereby generate genomic profiles of sub-populations within each tumour. We track the evolutionary trajectories of tumours and, by aggregating chronologies across thousands of tumours, are starting to discover common pathways to progression across multiple cancer types, including prostate, colorectal, lung, oesophageal, breast and haematological cancers. Through our research we aim to improve clinical practice by advancing our understanding of the processes and mechanisms involved in the progression of tumours from pre-malignant to aggressive, treatment-resistant and metastatic cancers.

You will take a leading role in the analysis of sequencing data from the CRUK RadNet programme.

Successful candidates will hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject and have exemplary programming skills in R or other programming languages, highly developed problem solving and reasoning skills and experience of dealing with large datasets.
