Research Associate in Bionic Materials for Light Management

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 18 months in the first instance.

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to work within the group of Prof. Silvia Vignolini at the Department of Chemistry. The position will focus on developing new platforms and tools to study how different living organisms build symbiotic interactions for light management and to investigate light-matter interaction in bio-inspired bionic and living materials. Applicants should have (or be about to obtain) a PhD either in Physics/Engineering with a strong background in nano-photonics, light-matter interaction, or in Chemistry / Materials Science with a background in optical material fabrication, microfluidics and bioprinting. The successful candidate is also expected to be able to program, and to understand basic optical techniques like microscopy, spectroscopy or electron microscopy.
