Research Associate in Coordination Cages for Chemical Purification

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to join the group of Professor Jonathan Nitschke from 1 October 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will investigate the use of techniques developed in the Nitschke group to create and characterise functional metal-templated capsules that undergo phase-transfer using light or heat as stimuli, enabling new modes of chemical purification.

Applicants should have a PhD in chemistry or chemical/process engineering, and should have knowledge of the factors that lead to preferential solubility of a compound in one phase or another. Areas of expertise relevant to this position include inorganic and organic synthesis, molecular modelling, and use of modern spectroscopic techniques; experience with fluidics would also be also beneficial.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a record of productivity, as measured by the quality and quantity of published work, together with excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills.
