Position Summary

The Developmental Speech Laboratory in the Communicative Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Department at Michigan State University has an opening for a one-year postdoctoral research position with a start date of September 5, 2022.

The postdoctoral researcher will be an integral member of our research team working on an NIH-funded research project to understand how stuttering and its adverse impact develops in young children. The candidate will contribute to all stages of this project, including the conception and design of experiments, data collection, analysis and interpretation of results. The candidate will work with senior lab members to mentor and supervise junior researchers and will learn different physiological approaches used in the lab. Finally, the candidate will be involved preparing written/oral presentations for journal publications and conferences and developing their independent line of research.

Required Degree

Doctorate -speech, language, and hearing science

Minimum Requirements

  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. in speech, language, and hearing science with an emphasis on stuttering and/or speech development.
  • The applicant must also show evidence of scholarly productivity in the form of journal articles and conference presentations. 

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience in neurophysiological/physiological data collection with children is desirable.
  • A clinical master’s degree in speech-language pathology and a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is preferred, but not required.
