The Department of Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Chicago invites applications for a position as Research Associate. We seek a scholar with a specialty in digital media and the enfironment who will further their own research at the University of Chicago. We especially invite applications from scholars who specialize in questions of sensory perception and new technology in relation to the built and natural environment. The selected candidate:

Is required to be in residence at the University of Chicago:

  • Will pursue their research agenda under the mentorship of a University of Chicago faculty member;
  • Will participate in regular colloquia and workshops in the department and in other areas on campus.

The selected candidate may occasionally teach a course, with the approval of the department.

The position is expected to begin July 1, 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The initial appointment will be for three years, with reappointment possible following successful review. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. 

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD in a field relevant to the position and must have a record of publication on topics in digital media, especially on areas that involve experience and environment.
