Research Associate in Misfolding Diseases

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral researcher to work with Prof. Michele Vendruscolo at the Centre for Misfolding Diseases, Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge (http://www-vendruscolo.ch.cam.ac.uk/). The post is to work on a research programme recently funded through the ASAP (Aligning Science Across Parkinson's) worldwide initiative (https://parkinsonsroadmap.org/).

The scope of this programme is to provide an oligomer map of the Parkinson's brain to identify the regions where the disease is progressing and to enable their systematic study. The interdisciplinary program involves close collaborations with UCL and The Francis Crick institute, as well as Cambridge.

The position will involve the analysis of transcriptomics and proteomics data. The applicant should have a background in biophysics, biochemistry, physical chemistry, physics, bioinformatics or related disciplines and strong programming skills preferably previously used in one or more of the areas of bioinformatics, protein sequence and structure analysis and analysis of experimental results from high-throughput experiments.

All candidates should have a keen interest in applying physical methods to complex systems and enjoy working in a highly multidisciplinary, dynamic and collaborative environment.

The post will be available from June 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a fixed-term position with funds for the post being available for 2.5 years, with the possibility of renewal.
