Research Associate in Neuroscience

The Department of Neuroscience at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of neuroscience with a focus on circadian biology. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

Responsibilities may include studying the function of circadian regulation of the blood brain barrier in Drosophila and mice and identifying circadian-regulated peripheral components that affect behavior. This will involve analysis of the blood brain barrier in Drosophila and mice, genetic manipulation mediated through introduction of mutations or virally transduced transgenes, and cell culture studies.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop independence in research through writing grants and peer-reviewed publications.

The successful applicant will have experience in the field of circadian biology with a focus on molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying biological rhythms.
