The University of York invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the ERC Synergy Project REM@KE (Reconstructing Embodied Musical Knowledge at the Keyboard). The postholder will conduct interdisciplinary research across music cognition, psychology, historically informed performance, organology, and musicology. The role involves designing and running experimental studies, managing datasets, contributing to publications, and supporting dissemination and public engagement.
Conduct experimental research on performers, educators, students, and instrument builders interacting with historical keyboard instruments.
Apply quantitative and qualitative methods to investigate embodied, perceptual, and experiential aspects of musical engagement.
Manage data repositories, coordinate events, and collaborate across project hubs in York, Gothenburg, and Pavia.
Contribute to publications, conferences, and public engagement activities.
PhD (or equivalent research experience) in Music, Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Statistics, or related field.
Expertise in experimental psychology, psychometrics, and music cognition, with knowledge of embodied cognition, organology, and historically informed performance.
Strong organizational and project management skills, including event coordination and handling multiple research strands.
