Requirements: 

Recent (within 2 years) PhD or equivalent in Nursing or a closely related field. If PhD is in a related field, then a bachelor's degree in nursing is required. Strong background (practice or research) in the physical and psychosocial care of patients with cancer or other life-limiting chronic illnesses is required; symptom management experience is preferred. The ideal candidate is someone who is highly motivated, self-directed, with strong scientific, organizational, record-keeping, and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a beginning peer-reviewed publication record. Job Duties: 

Under the guidance of faculty mentors, the Research Associate (Postdoctoral) will develop knowledge and skills to successfully transition from PhD training to an independent investigator role, conducting research in the area of symptom science or chronic illness self-management. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will gain skills in conducting and managing clinical intervention research, participate in ongoing cancer symptom cluster research conducted by Dr. Kwekkeboom's team, develop a line of independent clinical research, develop and submit a research proposal, mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research, participate in research seminars and professional development workshops, present research at regional and national research meetings, and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
