£27924 to £40927 per annum (pro rata if applicable), depending on skills and experience (minimum £31406 with relevant PhD). Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance

We are looking for a highly motivated and technically skilled researcher to join our cold atoms team and support an international collaboration on optical clocks. Specifically, we will prototype and test an integrated ultra-cold atoms platform that allows for multiplexed atom trapping, transport, and optical interrogation. The successful candidate will spend some time at the RIKEN institute in Japan before continuing work at Nottingham University. Supporting younger colleagues, preparation of scientific publications, and project reporting are part of the responsibilities.

Candidates must have a PhD (or nearing completion) in physics or a related discipline or the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience in research area. Candidates should enjoy working in a team and have excellent laboratory skills. Previous experience with ultra-cold atoms and atomic clocks is desirable. 

This is a full-time post (36.25 hours per week), offered on a fixed-term contract for two years. Arrangements for job share would be considered.
