We are seeking a Research Fellow in Automated Flow Chemistry to join a major 3-year EPSRC-funded programme : Flexible Digital Chemical Manufacturing Through Structure/Reactivity Relationships.

The overarching project aims to develop an Industry 4.0 approach revolutionising the transfer from laboratory. We will create an artificially intelligent system which will self-optimise chemical manufacturing to flexibly adapt to variation in external factors (e.g. supply chain issues, cost, and environment) by utilising chemical molecular property maps to suggest alternative suitable reagents, catalyst, solvents. A key novelty is the platforms will automatically perform experiments in a closed-loop with automated analysis and algorithm generated experiments.

The position will be based at the Institute of Process Research and Development at Leeds. You will interact with partners at and Britest to develop automated reactor platforms for screening discrete variables (e.g. catalysts) in collaboration with colleagues at the University of Bristol (led by Dr Natalie Fey) and colleagues in the Business School (led by Dr Richard Hodgett) in the integration of machine learning algorithms.
