The University of Nottingham is inviting applications for a Research Fellow to participate in an exciting new European H2020 project involving 21 European partners to develop next generation thermal management for future automotive lithium ion battery packs.

As an enthusiastic post-doctorate, this is an exciting opportunity for you to help manage and deliver high impact collaborative research covering several technical themes. Fully supported by the university, you will be instrumental in delivering a high profile project on time and within budget.

A key aspect of your role will be to undertake both experimental and simulation based fundamental thermal research and to apply this within a demonstrator vehicle of upgraded thermal design. A good understanding of modern electric vehicle operation and performance is therefore highly desirable.

You should hold a PhD in an Automotive Powertrain Engineering discipline and ideally have knowledge or experience of automotive electric drives. You should have good knowledge from your work in a similar or related role within an industrial, scientific or research environment.

As a people-orientated individual, you will have the ability to influence and engage collaboratively between the partners and the University of Nottingham. As a proactive person, you will have the enthusiasm and motivation to organise your own time effectively and have a flexible approach to prioritising tasks and work.

Throughout the project you will be given the support and mentoring you need to further an academic career, including supervision of PhDs, publication and dissemination activities.

This is a full time, fixed term position until 31 December 2024. Job share arrangements may be considered.

The University of Nottingham is committed to providing competitive employment packages whilst supporting the well-being of our staff to help them reach their full potential.
