We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow, with expertise in stem cell biology and genome engineering for precise gene correction and disease modelling organoid systems, to join our world-class research team at the Frazer Institute to support and drive dermatology research.
This position builds on our recent foundational work in human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs)-derived skin organoids (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38044307/), and the generation of vascularized skin organoids (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40817680/). This program advances next-generation patient-specific organoid systems for skin disease modelling and therapeutic discovery.
We are specifically seeking early career researchers who have a passion for research, and a proven interest in mechanistic disease modelling, advanced human tissue models, and translational platform development for genetic skin disorders. Work with us to create real change in precision dermatology and regenerative medicine, and we will help you get the best start to your academic career at one of Australia’s leading universities.
Working under the guidance and direction of Dr Abbas Shafiee and Professor Kiarash Khosrotehrani, successful candidates will conduct vital research in regenerative dermatology and genetic skin diseases, leveraging hiPSC technology and advanced skin organoid systems, to uncover skin disease mechanisms and enable precision therapeutic strategies.
Energetically drive research projects, assist in relevant studies and tasks assigned by supervisors, support applications for competitive research funding, publish in reputable journals and utilise best practice research methodologies.
Coordinate and strengthen national and international research collaborations, facilitating cross-institutional integration and contributing to the strategic growth of the program.
Assist with supervision of students and provide performance feedback and training to research support staff and supervisees.
