Position Description |
A Fellow position is available in Dr. Elsie Sunderland’s Environmental Contaminants Laboratory. The fellow will conduct research on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and support the operation and maintenance of an Agilent 6460 LC-MS/MS, Orbitrap Exploris 120 MS,and a combustion ion chromatography instrument. As needed, the position will involve development of analytical methods for extraction and analysis of novel compounds in matrices such as water, sediment, fish tissues, and human samples. The position will occasionally provide opportunities for field sampling and time at sea. Regular interactions and collaborations with group members and students can be expected.
Specifications: The majority of time will be spent on tasks related to organic contaminants research projects. In order of general importance, job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

The successful candidate will have a degree in analytical chemistry or related discipline.
