About the Role

The Research Fellow will contribute to RMIT’s participation in the Digital Health CRC (Cooperative Research Centre), a major multi-disciplinary multi-organisation research initiative to develop a taskforce to focus research and development on combining individual and collective expertise with data, information and telecommunication technologies. In particular, the Research Fellow will play a leading role in a joint project between RMIT and Telstra Health to develop techniques to analyse data collected in Aged Care facilities for early signs of potential for deteriorating health.

Responsibilities will include performing research to develop novel techniques addressing the project goals, including working with academic research staff to develop solutions; with Telstra Health staff to understand existing tools and translation of techniques to enhance those tools; and with domain (i.e., aged care) partner organisations and Health professionals to understand historical data and the triggers identifying necessary intervention.

The position will be affiliated with RMIT's School of Science and, in particular, the Disciplines of Computer Science and Mathematical Sciences.

About You

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science/Analytics, or closely related area, with proven research contributions in data analysis/machine learning for the purpose of decision-making. Prior work in applying such techniques in Healthcare, and expertise in interpreting health data, would be highly regarded. Independent programming abilities in an appropriate language is essential, as is strong communication and teamwork skills. A history of engagement with industry, collaboration with external partners, and research translation into practical outcomes is highly desirable.

The position will be affiliated with RMIT's School of Science and, in particular, the Disciplines of Computer Science and Mathematical Sciences.
