Job description

The GHI Department at BSMS is looking for a motivated Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Health Economics to provide high quality expertise into the evaluation of independent prescribing by therapeutic radiographers and supplementary prescribing by dietitians (TRaDiP project), led by University of Surrey ( The project will involve a model-based assessment of the cost-effectiveness of implementing the independent and supplementary prescribing.

The successful applicant will also have opportunities to provide support across the Department’s multidisciplinary research portfolio whilst developing their own research interests. Key research areas include neglected tropical diseases, tuberculosis, HIV, antimicrobial resistance, health care associated infections, health risk behaviours, and community interventions. Cross-cutting themes such as ethics and mental health ensure we have strong collaborations with colleagues in other departments, disciplines working in both the UK and with international partners.

The Department hosts a vibrant Global Health MSc programme, and this post offers opportunities to teach and supervise student projects in their area of expertise. The Department is based on the University of Sussex campus in Falmer, surrounded by the South Downs National Park.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A higher research degree (or equivalent experience) in health economics or other relevant subject
  • A growing reputation in health economics research - previous experience in economic evaluation of healthcare interventions and health economics modelling would be highly desirable
  • The ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
