Role Description

The Centre for Health Economics (CHE) at the University of York is seeking to appoint a Senior Research Fellow/Reader in health economics on a full-time open contract (part-time applications will also be considered with a minimum of 0.8 FTE).

The successful candidate will have a research profile focused on economics applied to health, and a strong quantitative background.  The post would be to work across CHE’s research themes, including research in low and middle-income settings.  

The Research Fellow will be based in the CHE, one of the world’s most prominent academic health economics research centres.  For over forty years we have been committed to the development and application of economics to promote health and wellbeing through the effective, efficient, and equitable use of scarce resources. We are a community of over 100research staff,support staff, andPhD students. Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • PhD or equivalent research experience in economics applied to health
  • Experience of delivering sustained research output of high quality with evidence of impact and esteem
  • Proven experience of attracting and obtaining significant external research funding
  • Knowledge of health economics applied to low- and middle-income countries, or a strong interest in developing such knowledge
  • Ability to provide academic leadership in research area and to lead research projects and teams where appropriate
