Duties and responsibilities
The main task is to study Wolfram syndrome and other neurodegenerative diseases both in vivo and in vitro. Genetically modified animal models, cell and tissue cultures and molecular biology methods are mostly used for the work.

International-level research in the volume equivalent to at least 1.5 doctoral theses in five years. Teaching and supervising students.

Required qualifications
PhD or an equivalent qualification in developmental biology, neuroscience, molecular biology or in gene technology
Required experience
  • International level professional research in the field of neurosciences during the last 5 years, which is comparable to at least one doctoral thesis.
  • Long-term experience and necessary permits to work, perform and plan animal experiments.
  • Previous experience working with molecular biology methods (PCR, qPCR, ELISA, immunohistochemistry and stereology).
  • The candidate must be able to work with an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) device and must be able to interpret and analyze the results of MRI scans (mainly brain anatomy scans).
  • Experience of presenting at international conferences is a bonus.
Required language skills
Proficient verbal/written communication and presentation skills in Estonian and in English.
