The Opportunity

There is an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to join the Department of Human Centred Computing within the Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University. In this role you will work closely with the Digital Energy Futures research team, collaborating with the two Chief Investigators, Research Fellow, PhD Candidate, Project Officer and the three Partner Organisations.

As a Research Fellow your project involves engaging in and delivering industry-focused qualitative and digital and design ethnographic research in Victoria and NSW, and may include preparing reports, video documentaries, presentations and briefing papers tailored for the energy industry. You will also have the opportunity to lead on and co-author research publications, conference papers and presentations at industry events, and deliver essential fieldwork involving design ethnography scenario innovation workshops with energy consumers in Victoria and NSW. You may also be involved in other projects within the Energy Futures research program, and/or lead or contribute to the writing of project proposals and grant applications for future funding on energy research.

If you are successful as a Level B or Level C research-only academic you will be expected to make independent or original contributions to the research effort within the Digital Energy Futures project of which you are a part. You will play a major role in research including the exercise of some leadership in research.

To be successful in this role you must have either a doctoral qualification in a social science or design discipline area or equivalent qualifications or research experience (e.g. sociology, anthropology, geography). Your previous experience will include working with industry or non-academic partners, including demonstrated ability to produce research outputs and materials tailored towards a non-academic audience. You will also have experience supervising, mentoring and coaching research staff and major honours or postgraduate students within the discipline. Your advanced computer skills specific working with a range of analytical software such as NVIVO and your interpersonal and communication skills will be central to your role.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
