The Research Scientist position involves day-to-day management of the development of a novel qubit platform. Duties will include developing several novel aspects of qubit operation. The Research Scientist will participate directly in this operation through calculations and experiments, as well as support the PI with mentorship of 2 graduate students who will collaborate on the project.

The Research Scientist will supervise the development of new types of flux qubit circuits, their design and manufacture, and also supervise and implement the development of new protocols for initialization and readout of the qubit. In addition, the Research Scientist will develop new protocols to enact logical gates. The Research Scientist is expected to give public presentations at conferences and help prepare grants and reports on their research.

Expected project length is 2-4 years, with an initial appointment up to three years.

REQUIRED: A PhD in physics or quantum physics, and experience with experimental quantum information science with superconducting circuits or a related field.

PREFERRED: Postdoctoral experience in experimental quantum information science with superconducting circuits or a related field. Experience with nano-fabrication, protected-qubits, microwave engineering and cryogenics at millikelvin temperatures is preferred.
