Summary of Duties
Ohio State University’s home for health policy and health services research. We provide evidence for policies and programs that work to improve health equity. The Research Scientist for the Center for HOPES, serves as a partner in the development of the Center’s research agenda, managing research projects, conducting analysis, communicating results to diverse stakeholders, and engaging in proposal development.

Responsibilities of the Research Scientist will include: designing and implementing evaluation and research of public health, health care programs, and health policy as Principal/co-Principal Investigator; preparing grant applications for federal, state and local funding opportunities; developing objectives and designing sampling, randomization schemes, and data collection procedures, serving as a methodological expert for evaluation, health services research, economic analysis, and policy analysis; analyzing data using statistical software and/or supervising junior programmers in languages such as SAS, Stata, and R; designing data visualizations and publishing results from research projects; supporting the Center Director on strategic projects and proposal development; and providing program management and proposal development support for research programs. Experience with cost-effectiveness analysis and claims data is a plus.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: strategic planning and Center development; working with and supporting OSU faculty, students and staff across the spectrum of the Center for HOPES and CPH activities; developing and managing federal, state, and local contracts for the Center for HOPES and serving as technical liaison for all contractual and reporting requirements; and preparing research results for publication in reports, papers, journals, books, tutorials, and other media.

Required Qualifications
Doctorate (Academic) in health services management and policy; demonstrated experience in independently conducting research (including authored publications and presentations of papers to professional societies); experience in writing and executing externally funded research grant proposals and reports; 7+ years of experience in public health, health services, or policy research; expertise in several statistical programming languages (SAS, Stata, and R); experience working with healthcare claims, other administrative and cost data, and surveys.

Desired Qualifications
Teaching experience at undergraduate or graduate level, and experience working with student, postdoctoral researchers and interdisciplinary research teams.

Target Salary $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 Annually
