Role Description

This post is available for a graduate researcher to take a role in a Leishmania drug discovery project as part of a collaborative project with Calibr, a non-profit company associated with the Scripps Institute in California.  Calibr have screened their ReFRAME chemical library and have identified several compounds with antileishmanial activity.

Role

You will test compounds in in vitro and in vivo models of Leishmania infection and to investigate their mode of action.  The work will enable selection and optimization of antileishmanial therapies from among the ReFRAME hits identified in vitro.  The Research Trainee will have the opportunity to register for a Masters by Research.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • The successful candidate must hold a BSc Hons with research experience in biology. parasitology, or related field. Ideally the candidate will have expertise in handling human pathogens and in animal studies.  The successful candidate will have highly developed communication skills and the ability to write up research work for publication. They must be able to develop research objectives and conduct individual and collaborative research projects.
