Join The Plant Accelerator® at The University of Adelaide’s Waite Campus and support the national Australian Plant Phenomics Facility (APPF)

APPF is a national research facility established in 2009 as part of the Commonwealth National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy. The Adelaide node of the APPF, known as The Plant Accelerator®, is a world leading plant growth and analysis facility fitted with high quality plant growth environments and state-of-the-art high-throughput imaging and data analysis technology.

The Plant Accelerator® is seeking a highly motivated individual to complement the skills of our established team. Leading a small dynamic team, you will also support the wider activities of the APPF to deliver measurable impacts to the plant science community. In this role you will be skilled in computer vision and image processing, and be ready to work with large data sets from a range of sources, including hyperspectral and LiDAR image and data analysis.

To be successful you will need:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering Science, or related field.
  • Substantial expertise in computer vision and image processing, particularly for multi-modal and high-dimensional data.
  • Sound skills in several programming languages relevant to technical applications, e.g. Matlab, Python, C/C++/C# and corresponding image processing software libraries.
  • Demonstrated experience in project leadership, including in an interdisciplinary team, with the ability to design, conduct and analyse research projects.
  • High quality interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to effectively engage with internal and external collaborators and other stakeholders, including the delivery of presentations to a range of audiences.
