Project: CLIMATUDE
University College Cork (UCC) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to explore the human and societal aspects of climate change and the just transition. The position is part of the CLIMATUDE project, funded by the Environmental Protection Agency, which aims to develop a deep understanding of Irish people’s attitudes, beliefs, and values related to climate change.

The project will investigate:
How public attitudes to climate change are shaped by sources of information, social networks, and public discourse
The influence of socio-demographic attributes such as gender, life-stage, socio-economic privilege, and educational attainment on beliefs and values
Conduct qualitative research and analysis on media and societal influences related to climate change
Collaborate with team members and work independently on research tasks
Communicate findings through reports, publications, and presentations
Assist in project management and coordination as needed
PhD in environmental media studies or a related discipline
Strong qualitative analytical skills, particularly in media analysis and societal studies
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Excellent English communication, writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Additional Information:
Achievements within Postdoctoral and Senior Postdoctoral levels are transferable across Irish HEIs
Eligibility for appointment may depend on prior Postdoctoral experience and completion of PD1/PD2 levels under the Irish Universities Association Researcher Career Development Framework
Duration: 24 months, full-time
Salary: €46,306 – €52,863 per annum (IUA PD1 Salary Scale)
Start Date: As soon as possible, subject to approval
Location: University College Cork
