Salary Range: $24.70 – $34.20/hour (based on experience and internal equity)
The Allen Discovery Center conducts cutting-edge research in basic biology and biomedicine, integrating molecular genetics, biophysics, and computational methods. The Center develops technologies to modulate bioelectric communication, influencing cell coordination for applications in regenerative medicine, cancer reprogramming, birth defect repair, and synthetic biology.
Support a senior scientist in electrophysiology and cell culture experiments
Maintain and manage cell cultures (plating, media changes, splitting, preparing stock solutions)
Conduct traditional patch-clamp experiments
Perform confocal imaging and related analyses
Ensure high-quality, reproducible data
Independently manage multiple concurrent tasks
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, biology, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline
3–5 years of electrophysiology experience in academic or industrial laboratory settings
Familiarity with basic statistics, image analysis software, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop
Experience with confocal imaging
Highly organized, with excellent interpersonal and analytical skills
Ability to multi-task independently and maintain research excellence
May work with hazardous chemicals, human/animal tissue, and radiation
Exposure to biological materials and specialized equipment may occur
