The Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Mathematics and Science is currently seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher in Inorganic Chemistry starting January 1st, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter for two years. The fixed-term position is part of the EU Just transition Fund (JTF) funded project "More efficient use of bioresources for energy storages and green transition catalysts".

The goal of the of the project is to develop 3D printed carbonous electrodes by using powder-bed printing technique (Selective Laser Sintering) and new hybrid printing materials. The person to be hired for the project will be responsible for the manufacture and development of the electrodes and development of the printing materials. The main application of printed electrodes will be flow batteries.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a skilled candidate who is highly motivated to promote new techniques in preparation of electrodes. A successful candidate should have the following:

  • Strong expertise in powder-bed 3D printing techniques.
  • Experience in chemical synthesis methods.
  • Experience in chemical and material analysis techniques, including ICP, XRD, and thermoanalytical methods.
  • Doctoral degree in Chemisty or Chemical technology

Experience in BET analyses and pyrolysis techniques is considered an advantage for the applicant.

The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of a Postdoctoral Researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. The PhD degree required for the position must have been completed before starting the position.

The annual salary will be approximately 40,000 – 54,000 EUR for the Postdoctoral Researcher (gross income, including holiday bonus) depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.
