We now seek a researcher to the research group of Axel Målqvist. Målqvist’s research group in computational mathematics belongs to the Division of Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics. The focus is on the development and analysis of numerical methods for solving partial differential equations with rapidly varying data.

Job assignments

Development, analysis, and implementation of numerical methods for solving partial differential equations with rapidly varying coefficients. The focus will be on problems with non-periodic and high contrast data. Applications such as composite materials and porous media flow are considered. The successful candidate will work on all aspects of the research including implementation of efficient solvers.


A PhD degree in numerical analysis, applied mathematics, or computational science is required. The successful candidate is expected to be at ease with collaborating with other scientists and to contribute in several parallel projects. Documented experience in development, analysis, and implementation of multiscale methods is highly advantageous. Large emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. Fluency in English is expected as well as experience at working in interdisciplinary teams.
