The Department of Criminal Law and criminology is part of the law faculty. It comprises more than 100 researchers doing research in the field of criminal law and criminology. It is a vibrant and international environment.


The successful candidate shall carry out an empirical research in the context of the project "EMPRISE" funded by the European Commission. 
The research revolves around the assessment of the standards of protection of the right to silence in criminal procedure different countries.
The candidate shall carry out the empirical study of the research covering Italy.
The aim is to assess the level of protection of the right to silence in Italian criminal procedure.
The tasks of the reseracher include:
- studying files of criminal cases and conducting interviews with stakeholders in Italy;
- processing the data collected;
- drafting scholarly texts on the basis of the collected data.
- drafting scholarly articles (in English and in Italian).
The candidate shall also help in the management of the project.


The successful candidate is a young talented researcher.

She or he
- holds a master diploma (or equivalent diploma) in law with excellent grades,
- has excellent knowledge of both English and Italian,
- has prior research experience,
- has strong writing skills and can draft legal texts in a clear and comprehensive manner,
- has strong communication skills,
- wants to work in a dynamic and stimulating environment.
A Phd title is considered an added value. (Holder of a PhD title will be appointed as post-doctoral researcher).


We offer a position of researcher with an appointment for 80% with the possibility to carry out research in a dynamic and stimulating environment.
