UCC’s School of the Human Environment seeks a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Researcher to join the MI-funded FishFrame project, which aims to develop dynamic community profiles for Irish fisheries.
The project integrates quantitative and qualitative data to support marine governance and fisheries management. The researcher will engage with local communities, industry, and stakeholders while being physically based at UCC (Department of Geography) or associated BIM offices, with the option to affiliate with the Radical Humanities Laboratory.
Conduct community-engaged, ethnographic qualitative research
Address cultural, social, and economic factors in fisheries communities
Manage aspects of project planning and coordination
Collaborate with stakeholders, including local communities and industry partners
Integrate and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data
Proficiency in ethnographic and participatory research methods
Experience with fishery community profiling and social, economic, or cultural research
Familiarity with statistical and spatial analysis, GIS, social network mapping, archival research
Policy analysis and socio-economic modeling skills
Excellent communication and project management abilities
Open to EU and non-EU applicants
Appointment is subject to university approval and compliance with the Higher Education employment control framework
Previous PD1/PD2 appointments at Irish HEIs may affect eligibility under the Irish Universities Association Researcher Career Development Framework
