Project Overview
We are looking to fill a Researcher II (postdoc) position in morphology or syntax at the Department of Czech Language.
The successful candidate will work on the project:
“Gradience and variation in natural language” (PI: Guy Tabachnick)
The project focuses on:
- Quantitative and theoretical research of gradience and variable phenomena
- Inflectional paradigms
- Syntax of clitics
- Other syntactic phenomena
Main Job Content
The role includes:
- Independent specialized research and development work
- Work within a research team/group
- Publishing research results (ideally in Q1 journals)
- Presenting research at conferences
Research focus areas:
- Quantitative research:Theoretical analysis of linguistic phenomena
- Corpus studies
- Experiments (e.g., wug tests)
- Gradience and variable phenomena
Subject areas:
- Inflectional allomorphy and paradigm organization
- Syntax (especially agreement and clitics)
- Phonology–syntax interaction
Additional Duties
- Administrative tasks related to the position
Candidate Requirements
- PhD in linguistics or related field
- Ideally completed by start date or shortly after
- At least 2 publications in WoS/Scopus (last 3 years preferred)Prior research experience in relevant topic (advantage)
- At least one as first/corresponding author
- Experience in research projects (advantage)
Language Requirements
- English: C1 level
- Czech: not required
