Our research
 
Our research focuses on understanding the functions of the cerebral cortex by simulating microcircuit systems involved in primate vision. The primary goal is to integrate biological insights with theoretical approaches and validate these models through numerical simulations. This work bridges neurobiology, computer science, and vision research.
 
Requirements
 
We are looking for a PhD who has a strong background in neurobiology and experience in python coding.
 
In addition, we appreciate familiarity with vision and fluency in math. Proficiency in both written and spoken English is required.
 
The appointee is expected to reside in Finland while employed by the University of Helsinki. International staff is supported in relocating to Finland: https://www.helsinki.fi/en/about-us/careers/welcome.
 
What we offer
 
This is a full-time position based in Meilahti Campus, Helsinki, Finland, and is expected to start on 2025 or earlier for duration of 2 years.
 
The salary will be based on the University salary scheme for research and teaching staff. The starting salary will be ca. 3 700 euros/month, depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience. A trial period of six months will be applied.
