Ambizione Grant in Protein Design or Synthetic Biology

The Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (IBMM) invites applications for the Ambizione scheme of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

Candidates' profile

You are a highly motivated individual with an excellent academic early-stage track record. You are working in the fields of protein design or synthetic biology and have strong interest in the scientific domains represented at the IBMM.

SNSF requirements:
• Doctorate (PhD)
• Max four years after completing the doctorate (PhD)
• Research activities of at least 12 months after the doctorate (PhD)

General terms
The successful candidate will work as at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (IBMM), which is part of the University of Bern, located in the center of Bern, Switzerland. The local research environment offers an international life sciences community as well as access to excellent scientific facilities. Bern is a beautiful city which offers an excellent quality of life, proximity to the mountains and a multitude of other opportunities for recreation.
The Application
Applications should contain: (1) a letter in which the applicants describe their research interests and the motivation to apply, (2) summary of a scientific achievement, e.g. contribution in a scientific paper, organization of a workshop or outreach activities (max. 1 page), (3) a complete CV, (4) a complete list of publications with details on the candidate's contributions, (5) overview of the research project (2 pages) (6) a brief description of the space needs (including desk and bench space), planned equipment, and access to departmental equipment (7) letter / contact information of 2 – 4 references.
