The MRC Cancer Unit (MRC CU) is a University Department situated on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. It provides an outstanding environment for cancer research, supporting some 10 research groups and ~150 bench scientists.

The successful candidate will join Dr Serena Nik Zainal's research group https://www.mrc-cu.cam.ac.uk/research/serenanikzainal
This position will be involved in several exciting bioinformatic projects which will assess whole cancer genome sequencing data that has already been generated as part of the Genomics England study.

As part of these projects, you will perform analysis on next-generation sequencing data and derive mutational signatures, perform analyses to seek aetiologies, optimise current algorithms and/or develop new ones for biological and clinical classification.

You will also provide support to other laboratory personnel. A background in bioinformatics is essential.

Fixed-term: The position is funded until 31 January 2022 in the first instance.

Salary will be on the scale £26,715 - £30,942pa (Grade 5) dependent on relevant experience.
